  1. Take your prescription to a pharmacy that accepts Medi-Cal;
  2. Tell the pharmacist, or pharmacy staff, that you’d like to receive the Medi-Cal rate for your prescription;
  3. Give your prescription and Medicare card to the pharmacist or pharmacy staff;
  4. Pay for the prescription at the Medi-Cal rate, with a 15% processing fee; and
  5. Ask the pharmacy to record that you have Medicare so that you will be charged the Medi-Cal rate in the future.

  • Medi-Cal provides a variety of health coverage programs for disabled and low-income Californians.
